Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was born to actresses Melissa D. Canaday, and Edward James Hyland in New York City. She began in the business when she was just 4 years old with commercial work as well as voice overs. The first film she made was Private Parts (1997). After that, she starred in The Object of My Affection (1998) and then spent time on Another World (1964) as "Rain Wolfe" as a child found in the park, and fostered by Josie and Gary. Sarah worked alongside Amy Carlson ("Josie") for a few more episodes: Falcone (2000). Law & Order (1990). Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was a part of Jennifer Love Hewitt’s The Audrey Hepburn Story(2000) as one of the young Audrey Hepburns. The following year, she was cast in ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999), which starred Audra McDonald, Victor Garber, Kristin Chernoweth and Joe Gould's Secret ((2000) and Falcone ((2000)). Alongside her film and television work, Sarah studied voice, jazz, ballet, hip-hop and tap Theatre Dance, and performed with her tap and Theater dance classes at "Reel to Real" at Lincoln Center as invited performers.A New York-born and raised girl, Sarah spent much of her time in television, film as well as voicing a number of radio ads and also traveling with her father, Edward James Hyland, while he worked at many theaters across the nation. When she was home-schooled by her mother, she attended public school until second grade. She was accepted to PPAS in 6th grade. This is the school that she was until she graduated in 2008. Sarah was 18 when she moved to Los Angeles. She landed a pilot called "My American Family" within two weeks. Once picked up the name was changed to Modern Family (2009). Sarah currently portrays Haley Dunphy, the oldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) was nominated for an Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
